2016-17 NBA Regular Season Schedule on TNT, ESPN, ABC and NBA TV

The 2016-17 NBA regular season commences today and runs through to Wednesday, Apr. 12, 2017.

Among the league’s national broadcast partners, the NBA’s own network NBA-TV leads with carriage of 107 games.

ESPN is scheduled for 82 games, mostly with coverage on Wednesday and Friday nights. Fellow Disney-owned network ABC will carry 19 games, including marquee matchups on the NBA’s most-watched regular-season day: Christmas Day, as well as the second season of “NBA Saturday Primetime” starting in January.

Turner Sports enters its 33rd consecutive year of NBA coverage featuring an expanded 64-game schedule during the 2016-17 NBA regular season including the addition of a new Monday night package beginning on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with a Cleveland-Golden State matchup. TNT will televise 20 Thursday night and 10 Monday night NBA doubleheaders during the regular season.

The 2016-17 NBA regular season marks the 21st consecutive season TNT has tipped off with two games on opening night. On Tuesday, Oct. 25, TNT will feature Cleveland’s championship ring ceremony. Then, it’ll be the defending NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers with LeBron James, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving hosting the new-look New York Knicks with Derrick Rose, Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis at 7:30 p.m. In the night’s second game, the Golden State Warriors – coming off an NBA record 73 regular season wins – will host the San Antonio Spurs and Leonard at 10:30 p.m.

The 2014-15 NBA champion and 2015-16 Western Conference champion Golden State Warriors will play the most nationally-televised regular season games in 2016-17 with 37 (13 on ESPN, 10 on TNT, 9 on NBA-TV and 5 on ABC). The Cleveland Cavaliers – the team that defeated the Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals – is runner-up with 34 (10 on ESPN, 9 on TNT, 9 on NBA-TV and 6 on ABC).

  1. Thanks for posting this SoB, going to be a fun season in the NBA despite people thinking it could be boring like last year because of Kevin Durant on the Warriors. I actually think the East is way better and will be way more competitive than the West.

    • As long as LeBron is healthy, Cleveland will win the East again. Although I hope the Clippers and Thunder put up some challenge, the West will either go to Golden State or San Antonio. I’ll have fun rooting against the Warriors this year.

      • I’m expecting nothing less than another Cavs vs. Warriors NBA Finals as they already seem to be already setting up for second sequel. I honestly don’t see anybody else coming through there unfortunately but who knows there could be a team that cracks their code. I think Toronto is the closest in the East to doing it to the Cavs since I think they will be better this year and in the West it should be San Antonio, I don’t see OKC even being top 4 they’re not in the picture to me but the Clippers could be but they have to make a big trade at the deadline. The Warriors are interesting because I think Charles Barkley was right about their lack of defensive presence and rebounding preventing them from winning it again.
