2017-18 Live+Same Day Season Ratings: ‘Sunday Night Football’ Tops for 7th Year, ‘Roseanne’ Leads All Scripted Fare

'This Is Us' Rises in Season Two, Enters Top Ten

NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” finishes as primetime’s #1 TV show in all key metrics for an unprecedented seventh consecutive year – breaking a tie with Fox’s “American Idol” for the most consecutive years atop the charts (since 1950), based on live plus same day data provided by Nielsen.

“Sunday Night Football” also ranked as the No. 1 show in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic for the eighth consecutive TV season.

Among new series in 2017-18, ABC’s reboot of “Roseanne” was tops in adults 18-49 (and which ranked 7th overall for all programs), followed by CBS’s “Big Bang Theory” spinoff “Young Sheldon”, NBC’s midseason entry “Ellen’s Game of Games” hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, ABC’s hit medical drama “The Good Doctor” and the Sunday edition of ABC’s reboot of singing competition “American Idol”.

Thanks to its post-Super Bowl airing on Feb. 4, NBC’s family drama “This Is Us” gained 15 percent from its successful inaugural season to place in the top ten for the year.

Among total viewers, CBS — the No. 1 network in viewership for ten consecutive seasons and its 15th of the past 16 seasons — continued the honors of being home of the most-watched drama (“NCIS”) and most-watched comedy (“The Big Bang Theory”) on television.

What follows are the average Live + Same Day rating results for the broadcast network programs for the 2017-18 traditional television season from Monday, September 25, 2017 thru Wednesday, May 23, 2018 [season ranking in respective data category noted in brackets] (percentage changes from the 2016-17 season in parentheses, where available):
