2018 MTV Movie and TV Awards: And the Winners Were…

MTV’s cross-platform celebration, the MTV Movie and TV Awards for 2018 was televised on Monday, June 18 (taped on Saturday, June 16).

Disney/Marvel’s “Black Panther” and Netflix’s “Stranger Things” each took home the night’s top prizes. “Black Panther” won Movie of the Year, its lead star Chadwick Boseman won for Best Performance in a Movie and Best Hero, and his co-star Michael B. Jordan won for Best Villain.

For the second year in a row, “Stranger Things” won Show of the Year as well as its star Millie Bobby Brown having won for Best Performance in a Show. Brown and her co-star Finn Wolfhard also won for Best Musical Moment for their school dance to 80’s hit “Every Breath You Take” at the conclusion of its second season. In addition, Noah Schnapp won for Best Frightened Performance.

Chris Pratt received the honor of the Generation Award and Lena Waithe was bestowed the Trailblazer Award.

Performing during the ceremony were Chloe x Halle for “The Kids Are Alright” and DJ Mustard and Nick Jonas for “Anywhere”.

The ceremony, in its 27th annual edition, hailed from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California and hosted by Tiffany Haddish of “Girls Trip”. Haddish herself won for Best Comedic Performance from her aforementioned film.

Best Fight: Gal Gadot vs. German Soldiers – “Wonder Woman”

Most Frightened Performance: Noah Schnapp – “Stranger Things”

Best Musical Moment: Mike and Eleven dance to “Every Breath You Take” – Stranger Things (Netflix)

Best Comedic Performance: Tiffany Haddish – “Girls Trip”

Best Reality Series/Franchise: “The Kardashians” (E!)

Best Hero: Chadwick Boseman (as T’Challa/Black Panther) – “Black Panther”

Best Villain: Michael B. Jordan (as N’Jadaka/Erik Killmonger) – “Black Panther”

Best Music Documentary: “Lady Gaga – Gaga: Five Foot Two”

Scene Stealer: Madelaine Petsch – “Riverdale” (CW)
