ABC Cancels Sitcom ‘Downward Dog’

Half-Hour to Conclude Tomorrow Evening Out of 'The Bachelorette'

ABC has pulled the plug on “Downward Dog” six episodes into its eight episode run. Debuting on May 17, the sitcom followed the adventures of Martin, a philosophizing dog who sees his owner, Nan (Allison Tolman), as a beloved life partner. The now two-part series finale will air tomorrow evening in the 10 p.m. hour out of
“The Bachelorette.

The news of “Downward Dog’s” cancellation comes after ABC announced it was downgrading recently introduced Monday night Shonda Rhimes drama “Still Star-Crossed” to Saturday.

  1. That’s too bad. This show held a strange fascination for me. Martin’s view of the world and his place in it made me feel sad because I think I imagined how I would feel if that was my worldview was so completely wrong because I was totally misreading the reactions of those around me. It avoided playing into what we think of as a perpetually happy animal. Sorry they didn’t get more of a chance to expand on the story.
