ABC Cancels ‘Uncle Buck’

This Second Remake of the Classic John Candy Theatrical Had an Eight Episode Run

“Uncle Buck,” the second sitcom spin-off from the 1989 John Candy theatrical of the same name, has been canceled by ABC. Series star James Lesure tweeted the news on Wednesday, one day after the now series-finale aired. Debuting on June 14, ABC aired two episodes of “Uncle Buck” in the Tuesday 9 p.m. ET hour each week.

“Uncle Buck” is the latest remake getting its walking papers, following “Minority Report,” “The Muppets,” “Limitless” and “Rush Hour” this season. Coming up in the remake department in 2016-17 are dramas “MacGyver” and “Training Day” on CBS and “Lethal Weapon” and “The Exorcist” on Fox. Good luck!
