ABC, as expected, has re-upped freshman comedy “American Housewife” for the remainder of the season, with a back-end order for nine additional episodes. Last month, the alphabet net issued a full season order to sitcom “Speechless” and drama “Designated Survivor,” and they join CBS’ “Kevin Can Wait” and “MacGyver;” NBC’s “This Is Us” and “Timeless” and Fox’s “Lethal Weapon” of the new series receiving additional episode orders this season at press time.

Debuting on October 11 and airing out of relocated “The Middle,” “American Housewife” chronicles the daily life of an average wife and mother (Katy Mixon, “Mike & Molly”) who tries to stand out among the housewives and their privileged children in her hometown of Westport, Connecticut.
