ABC Renews ‘Modern Family’ for Two Additional Seasons; Cancels ‘Last Man Standing’

Tim Allen Comedy Aired for Six Seasons

ABC has issued a two season renewal to multi-award winning sitcom “Modern Family,” which will take it through 10 seasons and 232 episodes. The two season pick-up is for 44 new episodes. “Modern Family has been the centerpiece of our comedy brand for 8 seasons and we are thrilled to have it on our schedule for two more years,” said Channing Dungey, President ABC Entertainment. “Steve and Chris have created such endearing characters, and the cast is second-to-none.”

In contrast, the alphabet net has canceled Tim Allen comedy “Last Man Standing” after six seasons. A total of 130 episodes aired, with the now series finale on March 31.

  1. I know that its ratings were not spectacular but it was holding its own on Friday nights. I wonder if it was getting too expensive, especially since it was not from an ABC studio.

    • That’s the only reason I can think of besides politics alone. 20th Century produces so I hope they pitch it to another network.
