Nostalgia Themed Diginet Acquires the Off-Network Rights to 'The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour,' 'Cher' and 'The Sonny & Cher Show'

Diginet getTV has acquired the off-network rights “The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour,” “Cher” and “The Sonny & Cher Show.” The trio of variety-themed series will be featured in the Monday 8 p.m. ET hour beginning on Sept. 12,

The original “Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour” aired on CBS from 1971-74 and would have continued had the couple not divorced. “Cher” featured the return of a solo Cher on CBS from 1975-76 (Sonny had failed miserably as host of “The Sonny Comedy Revue” in the fall of 1974), and the newly divorced pair reunited for “The Sonny & Cher Show” from 1976-77. By that point, however, the magic was gone.
