Boston Celtics Forward Gordon Hayward Suffers Gruesome Ankle Injury to Start NBA Season

Just five minutes of game time into the 2017-18 NBA regular season, the night’s marquee matchup of the Boston Celtics versus the Cleveland Cavaliers took a horrific turn when new Celtics star forward Gordon Hayward fractured his left ankle while jumping for the ball. The injury cast a pall on what was meant to be a heated meeting between the two best Eastern Conference teams last year as star point guard Kyrie Irving, LeBron James‘ Cavaliers teammate from 2014-17, landed with the Celtics this past summer.
