Bradley Cooper Developing ‘Black Flags’ Miniseries at HBO

Project to Track the Roots of ISIS

HBO has put into development a miniseries from Bradley Cooper called “Black Flags: The Rise of ISIS” based on the 2016 Pulitzer-winning book by Joby Warrick. From its origins in a remote Jordanian prison to its success in Syria, “Black Flags” tracks the unlikely roots of ISIS and transformation into the world’s most feared terrorist organization, as well as the small band of American and international agents tasked with shutting it down.

Cooper will executive produce with with Todd Phillips via the duo’s Joint Effort production banner. Bestselling author Gregg Hurwitz (“Orphan X,” “Wolverine”) is writing the adaptation and executive producing. Tim Van Patten (“Game Of Thrones,” “Boardwalk Empire”) will direct.
