‘Sons of Anarchy’ Spin-Off ‘Mayans MC’ Gets Pilot Order

Proposed Drama Set in the Aftermath of Jax Teller's Death

FX has issued a pilot order to “Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter on a proposed new drama called “Mayans MC,” which will be set in the aftermath of Jax Teller’s death and will focus on the struggles of EZ Reyes, a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California/Mexico border. Previously, the California-based Mayans peddled heroin, and in “Mayans MC,” one of the members, EZ Reyes will grapple with his desire for revenge against a drug cartel and his need for the women in his life to respect him.

Production on the first chapter of “Mayans MC” is set to start in March with Sutter and co-creator Elgin James as co-executive producers. “Sons of Anarchy” concluded its seven season run on FX on Dec. 9, 2014.
