CBS, which could have two protected time periods next season if it moves “Young Sheldon” into the Thursday 9 p.m. half-hour, has ordered two new comedies for next season: “Welcome to the Neighborhood” and an untitled Ben Winston project.

“Welcome to the Neighborhood” features Cedric the Entertainer as the the nicest guy in the Midwest who moves his family into a tough neighborhood in L.A. where not everyone appreciates his extreme neighborliness. The cast includes Dreama Walker, Josh Lawson, Marcel Spears, Sheaun McKinney and Tichina Arnold. And the untitled Ben Winston project focuses on a young married couple whose life becomes more complicated after a young musician moves into their spare bedroom and brings with him the complications of being an up-and-coming mega pop star. The series features Amber Stevens, Chris Parnell, Felix Mallard and Damon Wayans, Jr.
