CBS Passes on Additional Episodes of ‘The Odd Couple’

Thirteen Episodes in Total Will Air in This Third Season

CBS has opted against any additional episodes past the 13 ordered this season for its reboot of “The Odd Couple,” starring Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon. Now in season three, and the weakest link on the Eye net’s expanded two-hour Monday comedy block, this will take the total episode order of “The Odd Couple” to 39.

CBS, however, has not officially canceled “The Odd Couple” and has said it is still in contention for a fourth season. While nothing has been announced as a replacement for it in midseason, one option could be upcoming sitcom “Superior Donuts,” which follows the relationship between the gruff owner (Judd Hirsch) of a small donut shop, his enterprising new young employee (Jermaine Fowler) and their loyal patrons in a Chicago neighborhood.

  1. CBS has HUGE problems now. Since it premiered Big Bang and Mentalist it has joined the ranks of the rest of network television and hasn’t found a hit.

It is now slowly sinking as its few remaining hits age and the new shows underperform.

Les Moonves needs to change the way his people pick new shows (ie. stop doing what the other people do!) if he wants his network to keep going as a money-making concern.
