CBS has issued a second season renewal to sitcom “Life in Pieces,” with an unspecified number of new episodes for 2016-17. Benefiting airing out of “The Big Bang Theory,” “Life in Pieces” is this season’s top-rated comedy in total viewers (10.53 million), adults 18-49 (2.7 rating) and adults 25-54 (3.7), according to Nielsen. Keep in mind, however, that this is still about 40-45 percent below “The Big Bang Theory.”

“Life in Pieces” is produced by 20th Century Fox Television in association with Kapital Entertainment. And it is now the first CBS freshman series from this season to be officially renewed. Waiting word on their fate are scripted hours “Limitless,” “Code Black,” “Supergirl,” “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” and “Rush Hour.”

  1. Not the worst renewal. They have other family comedies likely on the way so this makes more sense than The Odd Couple.

  2. I would have preferred the Odd Couple over this. We sure don’t have the conversation around here like we use to. Up fronts are next week and unless I am not looking in the right place I don’t see any schedule guesses.

    • I honestly don’t watch either but I see more upside to Life in Pieces I guess. What I would really like to see is more Mike and Molly. That show’s been outstanding these past few weeks. CBS needs to play favorites though (rolls eyes).

  3. I liked “Code Black” from the very first episode. I hope CBS renews “Code Black”.

    • I do, too. I thought the show got better and better with each episode, and if it doesn’t get renewed, it will really be a shame because I have tried to get into Criminal Minds Beyond Borders, and I just cannot. So I’m hoping that Code Black is the next to get renewed. And soon!
