CBS Tops Tuesday Overnights Despite 20 Percent Drop, ‘This Is Us’ on NBC the Top Telecast in Prime Time

Although CBS remained the Tuesday leader in overnights in an official TV season, it declined 20 percent from last season’s premiere night (7.0 rating/12 share vs. 8.8 rating/15 share on Sep. 20, 2016).

The second season premiere of NBC’s “This Is Us” was television’s highest-rated telecast on Tuesday in households. With a 8.8 rating/15 share, it scored the series’ second best overnight rating to-date, just behind the first season finale on Mar. 14 (9.0 rating/14 share). The episode jumped 38 percent from the series premiere telecast one year ago (6.4 rating/11 share on Sep. 20, 2016).
