CMT in Talks to Revive ‘Nashville’

Beloved, but Low-Rated Drama Aired on ABC for FOur Seasons

CMT is reported to be close to signing a deal to keep canceled ABC drama “Nashville” in original production. “Nashville,” of course, was recently canceled by ABC after four modestly rated seasons and studio Lionsgate has been actively searching for a new outlet. Fans of “Nashville,” dubbed “Nashies,” are responsible for the show’s #SaveNashville campaign, which has been trending on social media.

“Nashville” stars Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere are still under contract, and new showrunners Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick — who were poised to take over the series on ABC — would likely remain for the cable edition.
