Tuesday Final Nationals: CNN Tops the Primetime Election Coverage

59.79 Million Viewers in Total for CNN, Fox News, NBC, ABC, CBS and MSNBC

CNN took top-rated honors in primetime for the Presidential Election coverage on Tuesday, with 13.26 million viewers, 6.65 million adults 18-49 and 6.66 million adults 25-54. Second overall among all coverage was Fox News at 12.11 million viewers, while NBC was the most-watched among the Big 3 broadcast networks at 11.15 million.

The primary news networks – CNN, Fox News and MSNBC – totaled 31.31 million viewers, 13.11 million adults 18-49 and 13.66 million adults 25-54. The Big 3 broadcasters – ABC, CBS and NBC – took a backseat at 28.48 million viewers, 9.05 million adults 18-49 and 10.20 million adults 25-54. Combined, the six outlets totaled 59.79 million viewers, 22.16 million adults 18-49 and 23.86 million adults 25-54. This, of course, does not include Fox, PBS, the remaining cable networks and viewing via mobile devices.

Here are the results by network:

-Total Viewers:
CNN: 13.26 million, Fox News: 12.11, NBC: 11.15, ABC: 9.24, CBS: 8.09, MSNBC: 5.94

-Adults 18-49:
CNN: 6.65 million, Fox News: 4.18, NBC: 5.09, ABC: 3.49, CBS: 3.03, MSNBC: 2.28

-Adults 25-54:
CNN: 6.65, Fox news: 4.64, NBC: 4.42, ABC: 3.17, CBS: 2.61, MSNBC: 2.37

In social media, Fox News topped the social interactions across Facebook and Twitter with a combined 1.48 million (Facebook: 1.20 million, Twitter: 279,000). Second overall was CNN at 730,000 combined, followed by NBC (359,000) and MSNBC (358,000).
