The CW Cancels ‘Reign’

The Upcoming Fourth -- And Now Final -- Season Begins on February 10

The CW has announced that the upcoming fourth season of perennially low-rated historical drama “Reign” will be its final season. Debuting on Oct. 17, 2013, “Reign” follows the early exploits of Mary, Queen of Scots, played by Adelaide Kane. It returns for its now final season on Friday, Feb. 10 at 8 p.m. ET out of “The Vampire Diaries,” which is also concluding.

Since the fourth season is currently still in production, team behind “Reign” will be able to work on an officially season-ender. Sixteen new episodes will air.

  1. At the end of the previous season, she is basically in the “setting” for her own demise so this does not shock me at all. I have to wonder if they will go the historical route and let it happen? Obviously it won’t be a happy ending for Mary Queen of Scots. I’d be content if they allude to what is about to happen and do flash backs to Mary’s triumps and former happiness as the very last scene while letting us know what is to come. I’d be down with that as a proper series finale
