Comedy Streaming Service Seeso to Shut Down

Specific Date Not Confirmed Yet

Seeso, the niche service that struggled to compete with streaming giants like Amazon and Netflix, will be shut down later this year on an undisclosed date by NBCUniversal. Launched in 2016, Seeso was a breeding ground for comedies old and new, from “Saturday Night Live” to original series like “HarmonQuest,” “The Cynaide and Happiness Show,” “Hidden America with Jonah Ray” and “My Brother, My Brother and Me.” Those original series are expected to move to VRV’s new Select streaming service. Upcoming series

“There’s… Johnny!,” set in the world of “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson” circa 1972, will not be premiering this month as originally scheduled. Producers are now in search of a new home.
