Disney Channel Cancels ‘Girl Meets World’

The Series-Finale is Set for January 20

Disney Channel has opted against a fourth season of sitcom “Girl Meets World.” Spun-off from ABC’s long-running “Boy Meets World” and debuting on June 27, 2014, “Girl Meets World” followed the daughter (Rowan Blanchard) of Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga Matthews (Danielle Fishel) in New York City and her best friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) as they navigated the challenges of life and school. August Maturo, Peyton Meyer and Corey Fogelmanis also starred.

“It is with incredible pride in our work and complete sadness that things end, that I report to this wonderful audience that our show is over,” the writers’ account tweeted in a series of posts. “I just officially got the call, and would like to thank this audience for its incredible love and loyalty. Please watch our January episodes. We leave you with three incredible souvenirs of a show we couldn’t be more proud of. As I look back I can tell you with absolute certainty — we gave you our best.”

The series finale of “Girl Meets World” airs on January 20.

  1. I really enjoyed Girl Meets World which had more story left to tell since they just started High School but seems like Disney once there’s 60+ EP’s the shows end.
