Jamie Foxx and Andy Cohen to Host Upcoming Ganme Shows; 'Empire' Renewed; More Episodes of 'The Mick'

Oscar winner Jamie Foxx (“Ray,” “Django Unchained”) has been named host of “Beat Shazam,” an interactive game show in which teams of two race against the clock and each other as they attempt to identify the biggest hit songs of all time. In the end, the team with the highest score will outlast the competition and go against Shazam, the world’s most popular song identification app, for the chance to win a cash prize. Executive-produced by Mark Burnett (“Survivor,” “The Voice”) and Jeff Apploff (“Don’t Forget the Lyrics!”), the straight-to-series order is scheduled to premiere this summer on Fox.

Andy Cohen (“Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen”) will host a revival of “Love Connection,” a new one-hour series that amps up the original hit dating show for today’s audiences. Fox has ordered 15 episodes of the new unscripted series, to be executive-produced by Mike Fleiss (“The Bachelor”). Each hour of “Love Connection” will feature single men and/or women in search of romance. After the singles are sent on three blind dates, they will dish the dirt in front of a live studio audience, as Cohen, the well-known provocateur, brings his personal brand of audacious fun to the series.

“Empire,” meanwhile, has been renewed for a fourth season, with an order for 18 new episodes in 2017-18. And Fox has picked up an additional four episodes of recent scripted comedy “The Mick,” taking it to 17 half-hours in this first season.
