Fox Picks Up ‘Lucifer’ for the Remainder of the Season

Nine Additional Episodes Ordered

Fox has issued a back-nine episode order to sophomore drama “Lucifer,” which will extend its episode tally in this current second season to 22. Debuting on Jan. 25, 2016, “Lucifer” focuses on the life of Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), who is bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell and resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom to retire to Los Angeles, where he teams up with LAPD detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German) to take down criminals. The series is based upon the characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for Vertigo, from DC Entertainment.

“Lucifer” is produced by Warner Bros. Television, in association with Jerry Bruckheimer Television and Aggressive Mediocrity.

Just last week, Fox extended the episode order for freshman action hour “Lethal Weapon” by an additional five hours, taking it to 18 episodes. There is no word, meanwhile, if freshman dramas “Pitch” and “The Exorcist” will continue past the initial 13 episodes.
