Fox Swaps ‘Bones’ for New Drama ‘Pitch’ This Fall

Revival of 'Prison Break' Will Also Now Air Tuesdays in Spring 2017

Just four days after announcing its plans for next fall (and hearing what the competition is doing) and Fox is benching the final season of “Bones” in the Thursday 9 p.m. hour (out of relocated drama “Rosewood”) for new drama “Pitch.” From executive producer Dan Fogelman (“Crazy, Stupid, Love.”), “Pitch” is the dramatic and emotional story of Ginny Baker (Kylie Bunbury, “Under The Dome”), who becomes the first woman to play Major League Baseball – under the glare of a white-hot media spotlight. The series also stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar (“Franklin & Bash,” “NYPD Blue”), Ali Larter (“Legends,” “Heroes”), Mark Consuelos (“Kingdom,” “All My Children”) and Dan Lauria (“The Wonder Years”).

“Pitch” had originally been slated for Tuesday at 9 p.m. in the spring. Instead, the upcoming revival of “Prison Break” will now air Tuesdays in spring 2017 out of new reality/competition “Kicking & Screaming.” And “Bones” will step in for “Pitch” in the winter.

Historically, no series themed on baseball (think CBS sitcom “Ball Four” in 1976, NBC drama “Bay City Blues” in 1983, and CBS’ “A League of Their Own,” based on the movie of the same name, in 1993) has ever succeeded.
