Hugh Hefner the Subject of an Upcoming New Miniseries

Stephen David Entertainment and Playboy’s Alta Loma Entertainment will co-produce a mini-series on the life of Playboy founder and American icon Hugh Hefner and his legendary company called “American Playboy: The Hugh Hefner Story.” It will begin production in 2016 and is in search of an outlet. Stephen David will executive produce the project with Alta Loma executives Peter Jaysen and Dick Rosenzweig. The production partners are currently entertaining offers.

The scoop: “American Playboy: The Hugh Hefner Story,” told in hybrid documentary style, will benefit from unprecedented access to Mr. Hefner’s vast video and photographic archives, which have documented the daily life of the mercurial Editor In Chief from 1953 to today. In addition, Playboy Enterprises will open its archives, which include more than 60 years of the pages of its iconic magazine, as well as previously unpublished material.

“When I started Playboy magazine in 1953, I couldn’t imagine the incredible journey that was to follow and that Playboy would have such a significant voice in the discussion of our ever-changing culture,” said Playboy Founder, Hugh Hefner. “I’m pleased that this docu-series will help serve as a reminder of where we’ve been and how we’ve evolved as a society, but more importantly my hope is that it will inspire others to pursue their dreams.”
