Madison Square Garden Welcomes Back Former Knicks Star Carmelo Anthony

NBA All-Star player Carmelo Anthony, currently the forward for the Oklahoma City Thunder, made his first appearance at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Dec. 16 since being traded from his old New York Knicks team in the summer. Anthony spent more than six season with the Knicks. The 2012-13 season was his best with them, as he led the NBA averaging 28.7 points per game and later helped the Knicks win its first playoff round since 2000. But his four most recent Knicks seasons have been tumultuous, with losing records and not reaching the playoffs in each of those years.

During the pre-game introductions, the Madison Square Garden video screens paid tribute to Anthony, and the crowd gave him a warm reception.

Of course, the cheers quickly turned to jeers towards Carmelo Anthony whenever he touched the basketball once the game was in action and he was trying to defeat his old Knicks team.

The Knicks emerged victorious over the Thunder 111-96. Anthony congratulated his former New York teammates after the game.
