Michelle Collins Out on ABC’s ‘The View’

Comedian Gets the Boot Less Than One Year After Joining the Troubled Morning Talker

Just when you thought things were settling down comes word that comedian Michelle Collins is the latest to depart from that revolving door called ABC’s “The View.” Collins joined the veteran ABC talker last July following a test run, and was featured this season alongside Whoopi Goldberg, returning Joy Behar, Raven-Symone and new co-hosts Candace Cameron Bure and Paula Faris. But her appearances dwindled down to just one or two times per week, a result perhaps of the network losing sponsors after a discussion where she criticized nurses and for mocking Republican candidate Carly Fiorina’s face last fall.

Rumors, meanwhile, point to Whoopi Goldberg potentially not returning for season 20 (her current contract ends in August) and Raven-Symone also on the fence to return.

“Michelle is smart, opinionated and funny,” ABC said in a statement when asked to confirm the news of Collins’ termination. “She’s been a great addition to the panel this year.”

If she was a “great addition,” then why did ABC let her go?
