Monday Final Ratings: ‘The Voice’ Spring Premiere on NBC Grows from the Fall; Modest Start for ‘Good Girls’

The 14th season premiere of NBC’s “The Voice” (2.8/10 in 18-49, 12.3 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) is up as a spring premiere versus the prior fall’s debut in adults 18-49 for the first time in five years, growing +8 percent versus the prior premiere in 18-49 (2.8 vs. 2.6 on Sept. 25, 2017) and +1.7 million viewers or +16 percent in total viewers (12.3 million vs. 10.6 million). It also scored the show’s highest rating in the past year for a Monday or Tuesday edition in 18-49 and total viewers (since Feb. 27, 2017, 3.1 in 18-49, 13.0 million viewers overall).

The series debut telecast of NBC’s “Good Girls” (1.5/6 in 18-49, 6.0 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) won the 10 p.m. timeslot among the ABC, CBS and NBC dramas in adults 18-49, beating “The Good Doctor” by +15 percent (1.5 vs. 1.3). It generated NBC’s best 18-49 rating in the time period with regular programming since Feb. 27, 2017 (1.6) and best total-viewer results with regular programming since March 6, 2017 (6.012 million).

    After 3 days of TV playback, ABC’s The Good Doctor soared to a 2.6 rating in Adults 18-49, moving ahead of the debut of NBC’s The Voice led-Good Girls to dominate by 37% (1.9 rating). In L+SD, the ABC drama stood 2-tenths behind the NBC drama debut. In addition, The Good Doctor increased its advantage over Good Girls to 5.6 million Total Viewers in L+3 (13.0 million vs. 7.4 million) versus a 1.8 million lead in L+SD.

    The Good Doctor emerged as Monday’s #2 show among young adults, leapfrogging over Good Girls and ABC’s The Bachelor (2.2 rating).

    With a +1.3 ratings point jump from L+SD to L+3 (growing from 1.3 to 2.6), ABC’s The Good Doctor was the #1 biggest gainer of the night among Adults 18-49, more than tripling the L+3 lift for Good Girls (+0.4 rating points).
