MTV to Revive ‘Fear Factor’ with Ludacris as Host

Reboot Set to Debut on May 30th

Former NBC reality/competition “Fear Factor,” which had two runs – from 2001-06 and 2011-12 – is being revived by MTV with rapper-turned-actor Ludacris (aka Chris Bridges) as host. The cable network has ordered 12 new episodes of the series from Endemol Shine North America. Ludacris will also executive produce. The series that challenges teams of contestants to face extreme physical and mental trials is expected to premiere on Tuesday, May 30 at 10 p.m. ET.

The logline: Inspired by urban legends, scary movies and online videos from the zeitgeist, contestants will be pushed beyond their comfort zones where their body’s physiological responses will take over. Each hour-long episode will feature eight contestants pairing up in four teams of two — think siblings, college rivalries, roommates, best friends and co-workers — who off for a cash prize.
