Ratings Breakdown:

There were two series premieres last night (ABC drama “Time After Time” and Fox sitcom “Making History”), the time period premiere of NBC’s “Chicago Justice,” the season premieres of NBC’s “Little Big Shots” and “Shades of Blue,” and the return of “Once Upon a Time” on ABC and “Madam Secretary” on CBS. Overall, it was NBC that had the momentum.

Following an encore telecast of “Little Big Shots” at 7 p.m. (#3: 3.7/ 7), the second season premiere of the Steve Harvey hosted hour scored a dominant 6.9/11 in the household overnights at 8 p.m. Comparably, that bested “NCIS: Los Angeles” on CBS (#2: 6.2/10) and aforementioned “Once Upon a Time” on ABC (#3: 1.9/ 3) by 11 percent and 263 percent, respectively. At this point, it is time for “Once Upon a Time” to end.

“Chicago Justice,” drama No. 4 in the Dick Wolf franchise, launched with a second-place 4.6/ 7 in the 9 p.m. hour (following last Wednesday’s preview). Comparably, that beat the series-premiere of “Time After Time” on ABC (#3: 1.8/ 3) by a hefty 156 percent. One year earlier in the Sunday 9 p.m. hour on ABC was failed drama “The Family” at a 2.2/ 3 in the household overnights. As a reminder, most series drop 10 to 20 percent in week two.

Tops in the Sunday 9 p.m. hour was older-skewing “Madam Secretary” on CBS at a 5.1/ 8, which was equal to year-ago time period occupant “The Good Wife.”

At 10 p.m., NBC’s “Shades of Blue” won the hour with a 3.7/ 7, which beat competing “Elementary” on CBS (3.0/ 5) and a second episode of “Time After Time” on ABC (1.8/ 3) by 23 percent and 106 percent, respectively. Note: FX airing the debut of “Feud: Bette and Joan” in the time period.

The night’s other premiere, “Making History” on Fox, did not make the record books with a 1.5/ 2 in the household overnights at 8:30 p.m. (out of a 1.7/ 3 for “The Simpsons”). One year earlier, however, failed Fox sitcom “Cooper Barrett Survives the Universe” only scored at 1.1/ 2.

Next on Fox was “Family Guy” at a diluted 1.7/ 3 (#4) at 9 p.m. into a 1.5/ 2 (#4) for “The Last Man on Earth” at 9:30 p.m.

Earlier in the evening was CBS granddaddy “60 Minutes” at a dominant 7.7/13 at 7 p.m., “America’s Funniest Home Videos” at a 3.1/ 5, and two episodes (repeat and original) of “Bob’s Burgers” on Fox (7 p.m. #4: 1.1/ 2; 7:30 p.m.: #4: 1.3/ 2).
