The CW to Develop ‘Project 13,’ a New D.C. Comics Adaptation

Proposed Series Based on DC Comics Characters Traci Thirteen and Dr. Terrance Thirteen

The CW, which continues to lead the landscape with comic book series TV adaptations, has a new one in the works: “Project 13.” Based on DC Comics characters Traci Thirteen and her father Dr. Terrance Thirteen, the proposed one-hour drama will center on Traci, a 20-something forensic scientist and believer in the paranormal who discovers her own hidden extra-sensory abilities when she joins her estranged, skeptic father to investigate mysterious cases of the paranormal and unexplained phenomena.

Daegan Fryklind will serve as the writer and executive producer on the project, Elizabeth Banks will produce along with Max Handelman through their Brownstone Productions company. Brownstone will produce in association with Warner Bros. Television.

The CW currently airs “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “Arrow,” and “Legends of Tomorrow,” all of which are based on DC Comics characters, and “Riverdale,” based on the Archie Comics characters. Upcoming in midseason is “Black Lightning,” based on the DC Comics character of the same name, and the network recently announced it is developing a drama series based on the “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” character. When the network deviates from comic book-themed dramas, such as new scripted dramas “Valor” and “Dynasty” this fall, the audience interest tends to be nil.
