The CW Greenlights Dramas ‘Black Lightning’ and ‘Life Sentence’

The CW has ordered two dramas to-date for 2017-18: “Black Lightning” and “Life Sentence. The first African-American DC Super Hero to have his own stand-alone comic title, “Black Lightning” is based on the character created by Tony Isabella with Trevor Von Eeden in 1977. Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) made his choice: he hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with one daughter hell-bent on justice and the other a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend – Black Lightning. The cast includes China Anne McClain, Christine Adams and Nafessa Williams.

“Life Sentence” is a dramedy about a young woman (Brooke Lyons) diagnosed with what she thinks is terminal cancer. But when she finds out that she’s not dying after all, she has to learn to live with the choices she made when she decided to live like she was dying. The cast includes Carlos PenaBega, Dylan Walsh, Gillian Vigman and former “Pretty Little Liars” star Lucy Hale.
