Fox in 2016-17: Just 4 New Shows This Fall; 7 More in Midseason

Mirroring NBC, Modest Remains the Initial Observation for the Broadcast Networls Next Fall

Mirroring NBC, Fox is taking a very quiet approach to its fall 2016 primetime schedule. Just four new shows will be introduced: dramas “Lethal Weapon” and “The Exorcist,” which are based on the movies of the same name, and “Pitch,” and animated/live action comedy hybrid “Son of Zorn.” Four shows (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “New Girl,” “Rosewood” and “Bones”) are moving to new time periods, and the changes will impact five nights of the week (excluding Monday and Saturday).

The new shows in midseason are dramas “24: Legacy,” “APB,” “Star” and “Shots Fired;” comedies “The Mick” and “Making History;” and non-scripted “Kicking & Screaming.” “The X-Files,” meanwhile, is still in contention to return next season. And the canceled series on Fox are freshman sitcoms “Grandfather,” “The Grinder,” “Bordertown” and “Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life;” and drama “Houdini & Doyle.”
