‘Judge Judy’ to Develop Scripted Drama Based on Her Life

Potential Series Inspired by Her Own Life

Judith Sheindlin, better known as Judge Judy, is entering the scripted drama arena. The daytime court show judge is developing a potential new drama called “Her Honor” for CBS, which is inspired by her own life. “Her Honor” will follow the youngest judge in New York, who cuts through the chaos in Family Court, but can’t seem to maintain control of her own life outside the courtroom. “Law & Order” and “Chicago Justice” showrunner Michael Chernuchin is writing the pilot, alongside Sheindlin who is billed as story co-writer.

“Her Honor” is not the first scripted series inspired by an unscripted television star’s life to land at CBS. This fall, Michael Weatherly will star in ‘Bull,” a legal drama based on the early life of TV personality Dr. Phil McGraw. It debuts on Tuesday, Sept. 20 out of the season premiere of “NCIS,” formerly featuring Weatherly, and it airs into the season premiere of relocated “NCIS: New Orleans.” “Her Honor” is being developed for 2017.
