‘The Munsters’ Reboot in the Works at NBC

This Is the Second Attempt by the Peacock Net to Bring Back the Beloved Comedy

Seth Meyers and “Odd Mom Out” star and creator Jill Kargman are developing a new version of classic 1960s sitcom “The Munsters” for NBC, which is the second time the network has attempted to create a new version following its failed attempt with “Mockingbord Lane” in 2012. Inspired by the original series, the comedy will center on an offbeat family determined to stay true to themselves as they struggle to fit in in hipster Brooklyn.
Kargman is writing the script and will executive produce with Meyers and his producing partner Mike Shoemaker. Their Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions banner will produce with Universal TV. Universal TV also produced the original series, which ran on CBS from 1964 to 1966.

A previous reboot, titled “The Munsters Today,” ran in first-run syndication from 1988 to 1991.
