'The F Word with Gordon Ramsay' Remains an Early Summer Flop on Fox

What follows are the metered market (overnight) results in households by network and by half-hour for Wednesday, June 21, 2017:

Household Rating/Share
NBC: 2.8/ 5, CBS: 2.4/ 4, Fox: 2.0/ 4, ABC: 1.9/ 4, CW: 0.5/ 1

-Percent Change from the Year-Ago Evening:
NBC: + 8, Fox: -13, ABC: -14, CW: -17, CBS: -25

-Ratings Breakdown:
The debut of spin-off “Little Big Shots: Forever Young” topped the night, leading NBC to Wednesday overnight household victory. It opened with a 4.7 rating/9 share in the household overnights in the 8 p.m. hour, which was on par with the season-finale of parent series “Little Big Shots” one week earlier. And that translated into 7.29 million viewers and a 1.1 rating/5 share in adults 18-49, based on the Live + Same Day data from Nielsen.

Next on NBC was sitcom “The Carmichael Show,” which slipped by 47 percent from the 8:30 p.m. portion of “Little Big Shots: Forever Young” (4.9/ 9). It scored a 2.6/ 5 (#1t) in the 9 p.m. half-hour. That led into a 1.9/ 3 (#2) for an encore of “The Carmichael Show” at 9:30 p.m., following by a repeat of “This Is Us” at a third-place 1.5/ 3 at 10 p.m.

The only other programming of an original nature last night was ABC game show “To Tell the Truth” (#2: 2.1/ 4 at 10 p.m.) and Fox’s combination of “MasterChef” (#2: 2.5/ 5 at 8 p.m.) and failing recent non-scripted entry “The F World with Gordon Ramsay” (#4: 1.6/ 3 at 9 p.m.). Maybe it is time to give Gordon Ramsay a break.

Elsewhere, CBS populated the night with repeats of “Undercover Boss” (#3: 2.1/ 4), “Criminal Minds” (#1: 2.6/ 5) and “Code Black” (#1: 2.5/ 5), which returns for season three in midseason in 2017-18. ABC aired repeats of sitcoms “The Goldbergs” (#3t, 2.1/ 4), “Speechless” (#4: 1.7/ 3), “Modern Family” (#3: 2.1/ 4) and “American Housewife” (#3: 1.6/ 3) into aforementioned “To Tell the Truth.” And The CW featured encores of “Arrow” (#5: 0.5/ 1) and “D.C.’s Legends of Tomorrow” (#5: 0.5/ 1).
