NBC's 'The Carmichael Show' Exits with a Whimper

What follows are the metered market (overnight) results in households by network and by half-hour for Wednesday, August 9, 2017:

Note: Comparisons to the year-ago evening are excluded since NBC aired the 2016 Summer Olympics.

-Ratings Breakdown:
ABC got a boost care of part one of two-night documentary “The Story of Diana,” which scored a respectable 4.2 rating/8 share in the household overnights from 9-11 p.m. ET. Part two airs this evening.

In series-finale news, NBC sitcom “The Carmichael Show” went out with a whimper with a third-place 1.7/ 3 at 10:30 p.m. A 10 p.m. edition of the sitcom scored a 1.9/ 3 (out of a dominant 4.5/ 8 for a clips edition of “America’s Got Talent” from 8-10 p.m.).

On CBS, summer favorite “Big Brother” was on the map with a second-place 4.2/ 7 in the 8 p.m. hour, which should be more than enough to win the time period in all the key demographics. But lead-out drama “Salvation” sunk to a 2.2/ 4 at 9 p.m. (#3). Also lacking in the original department was “The F Word with Gordon Ramsay” on Fox at a mere 1.1/ 2 in the 9 p.m. hour (#4) out of a 2.5/ 5 (#3) for Ramsay’s “MasterChef” at 8 p.m. The rest of the evening was repeat telecasts.

    AGT shouldn’t be listed as a Repeat. Even though it was a “clips show” it was newly presented and had material not shown previously.
