What follows are the metered market (overnight) results in households by network and by half-hour for Wednesday, May 10, 2017:

Household Rating/Share
CBS: 4.5/ 8, ABC and Fox: 3.4/ 6, NBC: 3.3/ 6, CW: 0.9/ 1

-Percent Change from the Year-Ago Evening:

CBS: + 5, NBC: -11, ABC: -15, Fox: -32, CW: -36

-Ratings Breakdown:
Unstoppable “Survivor” topped this second Wednesday in May, leading CBS to overnight victory with a 1.1 household rating point advantage over second place ABC and Fox. “Survivor” scored a 5.3 rating/ 9 share in households at 8 p.m., which was on par with the year-ago evening and led into an above-average 5.1/ 8 for the season-finale of “Criminal Minds” at 9 p.m. Spin-off “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders,” which is not expected back for a third season, closed the evening with a 3.1/ 6 at 10 p.m.

My prediction for next season is for CBS to shift veteran “Criminal Minds” to Wednesday at 10 p.m. out of a new drama. “Survivor,” of course, should remain intact at 8 p.m. The network unveils its scheduling plans next Wednesday at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

On Fox, “Empire” scored a second-place 4.6/ 7 at 9 p.m., which built by 100 percent from lead-in “Shots Fired” (#4: 2.3/ 4 at 8 p.m.) and will result in another Wednesday victory in adults 18-49 (and all the key young adult demographics). But “Empire” did slip by a significant 32 percent from the 6.8/11 in the household overnights on the year-ago evening.

Over at ABC, “Modern Family,” which just snagged a two-season renewal, finished third at 9 p.m. with a 4.0/ 7. Comparably, that increased by 38 percent from lead-in “Speechless” (#2: 2.9/ 5 at 8:30 p.m.). But it was also 22 percent below the 5.1/ 8 on the year-ago evening.

In season-finale news on ABC was sitcom “black-ish” at a 3.2/ 5 (#3) at 9:30 p.m., which led into a second-place 3.5/ 6 for “Designated Survivor” at 10 p.m., which is a shoo-in for a second season renewal.

Earlier in the evening on ABC was sitcom “The Goldbergs” at a second-place 3.5/ 6 in the 8 p.m. half-hour.

Elsewhere, NBC had nothing unusual to report with its combination of “Blindspot” (#3: 2.6/ 4), “Law & Order: SVU” (#4: 3.2/ 5) and “Chicago PD” (#1: 4.1/ 8). And The CW featured “Arrow” (#5: 1.1/ 2) and “The 100” (#5: 0.6/ 1).
