Oscars 2017…And the Winners Were

'Moonlight' Named Best Picture After 'La La Land' is Incorrectly Announced as the Winner

“La La Land,” as predicted, won the most number of Oscars, with six. But it was not named Best Picture. In a stunning turn, “Moonlight” won the top honor after “La La Land” was incorrectly named the winner by presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway. Members of the “La La Land” team were in the process of giving thanks when it was announced that the wrong film had been read and that “Moonlight” was the real winner.

“Moonlight” won three awards, including Mahershala Ali for Best Supporting Actor and Best Adapted Screenplay. The other acting wins went to Emma Stone of “La La Land,” Casey Affleck” on “Manchester by the Sea” and Viola Davis of “Fences.”

Of note among the winners was Iran’s “The Salesman” being named the Best Foreign Feature Film and its maker Asghar Farhadi not attending the Oscars in protest against Donald trump’s immigration policy.
