Starz Renews Drama ‘Power’ for Season 6

Pick Up Comes Three Months Before the Fifth Season Opener

Starz has issued an early sixth season renewal to drama “Power” from Courtney Kemp and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. Debuting on June 7, 2014, “Power” follows James St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick), nicknamed “Ghost”, owner of “Truth”, a popular New York City nightclub. In addition, he is a major player in one of the city’s biggest illegal drug networks. He struggles to balance these two lives, and the balance topples when he realizes he wants to leave the drug ring in order to support his legitimate business. He also has to keep his marriage with Tasha (Naturi Naughton), while pursuing his relationship with Angela (Lela Loren).

Word on the sixth season comes as the network prepares to premiere season five on July 1.

“As ‘Power’ wraps production on season five, we want to acknowledge and thank our spectacular team for producing another great season,” network programming president Carmi Zlotnik said Tuesday in a statement. “We are also pleased to announce a pickup for season six.”
