Sunday Final Nationals: Vikings-Packers Draws Double-Digit Increase from Year-Ago ‘Sunday Night Football’ Finale on NBC

Debuts for 'Cooper Barrett's Guide to Surviving Life' and 'Bordertown' and Return of 'Galavant' Stall

The Minnesota Vikings’ 20-13 victory over the Green Bay Packers for the NFC North title on “Sunday Night Football” easily gave NBC a Sunday night victory. It delivered a +17 percent viewership increase from the 20.7 million viewers for 2014’s Week 17 SNF “AFC North Championship Game” (Pittsburgh’s 27-17 win over Cincinnati), which was also a non-elimination game, as both clubs had already qualified for the playoffs. Vikings-Packers posted a 13.8/23 U.S. household rating, up +16 percent from the year-ago Week 17 game Steelers-Bengals (11.9/20).

The game generated a 52.4/74 local rating in Minneapolis which is the Vikings’ best-ever rating in that market for a regular-season “Sunday Night Football” game (including 11 Vikings “SNF” games since ‘06).

Top local ratings for the Vikings-Packers game on NBC were: Minneapolis, 52.4/74; Milwaukee, 51.2/66; Seattle, 21.8/33; Denver, 20.0/33; New Orleans, 20.0/27; Albuquerque, 19.4/28; Las Vegas, 18.6/28; Norfolk, 18.3/27; Phoenix & Richmond, 17.5/26 (tie)

“SNF” averaged 22.5 million viewers in 2015 — the best for an NFL’s premier primetime package since ABC’s “Monday Night Football” in 1996 (22.7 million). It also averaged a 13.0 household rating/22 share for the year, tying the series’ best marks from 2010.
