Super Bowl LI Ranks Third Historically in the Household Overnights

'24: Legacy' Clearly Sampled in the 11 p.m. ET Hour

As a reminder, overnight rating results for any live sporting event are always approximate. With that in mind, Fox Sports is reporting a 48.8 rating/72 share in the metered market household overnights for the New England Patriots’ stunning victory over the Atlanta Falcons on “Super Bowl LI” from 6:45 p.m.-10:30 p.m. ET. Comparably, this ranks as the third-highest rated “Super Bowl” in the overnights historically, just behind the “Super Bowl” on NBC in 2015 (Patriots/Seahawks: 49.7 rating/72 share on 2/01/15) and the “Super Bowl” on CBS in 2016 (Broncos/Panthers: 49.0/72 on 2/7/16). And this is now Fox’s highest-rated “Super Bowl” to-date, with the prior overnight record at a 47.6/70 on Feb. 2, 2014 (for the Seahawks/Broncos match-up).

The premiere/preview episode of Fox’s “24: Legacy,” which debuts in its regularly scheduled time period this evening, scored at estimated 10.7 household rating from 11 p.m.-12 a.m. ET.
