Syndicated Magazine ‘The Insider’ Canceled

Daily Half-Hour Strip to End this Fall After 13 Seasons

CBS Television Distribution has swung the proverbial axe on “Entertainment Tonight” spin-off “The Insider” after 13 seasons. Launched in 2004 with “Access Hollywood’s” Pat O’Brien as host and the premise of providing the inside story behind entertainment news, “The Insider” underwent several format changes, including a partnership with Yahoo and brief title change to “omg! Insider.”

Currently hosted by Louis Aguirre and Debbie Matenopoulos, “The Insider” ranks seventh out of the nine first-run magazine occupants, with a 1.2 rating in households. Comparably, that is flat from one year earlier. “Entertainment Tonight” tops the category with a 3.3 household rating (and growth of three percent from last year). Among target adults 25-54, “The Insider” is tied with “Dish Nation” from Twentieth Television, also for seventh, with a 0.5 rating in the demo.

The expected end date for “The Insider” is next September prior to the start of the new TV season.
