‘The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story’ Delivers Most-Watched Series Premiere in FX History

12-Million Viewers Based on the Live + 3 Day Data from Nielsen

“The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” headlined by Cuba Gooding, Jr., David Schwimmer, Sarah Paulson, Selma Blair and John Travolta, opened on Tuesday, Feb. 2 as the most-watched original scripted series premiere in FX’s 22-year history. Based on the Live+3 Day data, the premiere episode of the 10-part limited series drew 12 million total viewers and 6.1 million adults 18-49. Excluding second runs, the debut telecast of “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” posted 8.3 million total viewers and 4.2 million viewers in the demo.

Comparably, this beat the former record holder in adults 18-49, “The Shield” (3.0 million), by a hefty 40 percent. The limited series is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions.
