Thursday Final Nationals: ‘Thursday Night Football’ Still Tops Prime Time Sans CBS National Simulcast

“Thursday Night Football” was Thursday night’s winner once again but it aired exclusively on NFL Network (and not also on CBS with the exception of affiliates in Miami and Cincinnati) for this evening which featured the Cincinnati Bengals 22-7 victory over the Miami Dolphins. NFL Network won among total viewers (approx. 7.2 million), adults 18-49 (approx. 2.7 rating), adults 18-34 (2.2) and adults 25-54 (3.2).

Fox’s new baseball drama “Pitch” and ABC’s newest TGIT drama “Notorious” each opened disappointingly on the prior Thursday and each eroded in the typical manner most new series experience for their second weeks on the air:

Episode #2 of “Pitch” (Fox) erosion from series premiere:
Total Viewers: -13 percent (3.676 million from 4.227 million)
Adults 18-49: -10 percent (1.0 rating from a 1.1 rating)

Episode #2 of “Notorious” (ABC) erosion from series premiere:
Total Viewers: -16 percent (4.509 million from 5.394 million)
Adults 18-49: no change (1.1 rating from a 1.1 rating)

Nonetheless, one minor positive for ‘Pitch’ was it again built out of lead-in “Rosewood.”

The second week in its regular Thursday night slot for NBC’s new “The Good Place” also saw normal declines…

Episode #3 of “The Good Place” (NBC) erosion from Thursday 8:30 regular time slot premiere:
Total Viewers: -14 percent (4.509 million from 5.251 million)
Adults 18-49: -7 percent (1.3 rating from a 1.4 rating)

… but its Adults 18-49 performance is a modest positive for NBC — it tied the rating of the shows which ‘Good Place’ is sandwiched in-between, “Superstore” and “Chicago Med.”
