'Kevin (Probably) Saves the World' Sinks to a Series Low on ABC

It was a clean household overnight sweep for CBS care of its combination of “NCIS” (#1 for the evening: 8.0 rating/13 share at 8 p.m.), “Bull” (7.0/11 at 9 p.m.) and “NCIS: New Orleans” (5.5/10 at 10 p.m.). But the home of “The Voice,” NBC, could still be the network to beat in adults 18-49 (and all the key demographics). “The Voice” opened the night with a second-place 6.2/10 in the 8 p.m. hour, followed by also No. 2 finishes for 9 p.m. holiday special “Gwen Stefani’s You Make Me Feel Like Christmas” (4.5/ 7) and Tuesday 10 p.m. ET occupant “Chicago PD” (4.1/ 7).

Also in the specials department last night was “Greatest Holiday Commercials Countdown 2017” on The CW at a modest 0.8/ 1 (#5) at 8 p.m. That led into a 0.6/ 1 (#5) for an encore telecast of “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show” at 9 p.m.

Elsewhere, ABC’s freshman “Kevin (Probably) Can Wait” sunk to a series-low 1.7/ 3 in the household overnights at 10 p.m. Sixteen episodes have been ordered for this first, and probably last season of the Jason Ritter drama. Earlier in the evening on the alphabet net was the 8-10 p.m. sitcom rotation – “The Middle” (#3: 3.8/ 6), “Fresh Off the Boat” (#4: 2.5/ 4), “black-ish” (#3: 2.9/ 5) and “The Mayor” (#3: 1.8/ 3) – at typical metered market levels.

Fox featured “Lethal Weapon” (#4: 3.0/ 5 at 8 p.m.) and back-to-back episodes of sitcom “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (#4: avg. 1.4/ 2 from 9-10 p.m.).

  1. The Mayor has to be one of the bigger ratings disappointments of the season. I think ABC thought it would be a perfect fit out of black-ish.
