In season-premiere news, NBC medical drama “Chicago Med” returned for season three with a third-place 3.9/ 7 in the 10 p.m. hour, which was on par with year-ago time period occupant “Chicago Fire” but down by 35 percent from the 9:30 p.m. portion of lead-in “This Is Us.” Overall, “This Is Us” led the 9 p.m. hour with a 6.2/10. When it comes time for Emmy consideration, this is the episode Chrissy Metz as Kate should submit.

At 8 p.m. on NBC was “The Voice” at a solid second-place 5.8/10 in the household overnights.
