  1. We’ll see what ABC ultimately does with Boy Band and Battle of the Network Stars as I’m sure a decision is coming up right around the corner on both of them, BOTNS still has their 2-episode finale in a couple of weeks opposite of the opening night NFL game on NBC. I’ve been saying it all summer that both shows can easily get their ratings way up if they got retooled and put into better timeslots. For Boy Band while I enjoy it the way it is it clearly needs the girl groups on the show and ABC premiered it a year early as it could’ve been promoted and boosted through Idol so they should see how it does behind an Idol promotion and add the girl groups before ultimately closing it down.

I’m still enjoying BOTNS although I still gotta catch last night’s episode which I DVRed but the show can easily be fixed as ABC made a huge mistake by making it a highlight show instead of giving it 2-hours and maybe making it live with a live audience on hand to root and cheer on the contestants. It needs to be a serious competition like Big 3 Basketball on FOX has been. You’ve actually got dudes crying after games after losing that’s something that I wish I could see on BOTNS and they need to add in a playoff tournament as well for the last few episodes of the season. I see ESPN has been repeating the episodes on their networks and the main network during the weekend so I think maybe that tie in to building the Wide World of Sports brand will help bring it back in a retooled fashion next summer. It needs to be promoted better as well and maybe next season they ought to just go back to the old format and pin networks against networks again, we don’t need cable stars on the show honestly. These simple fixes will get the ratings up and it’ll basically be a new show to people.

I hope both shows are brought back or at least BOTNS at the very least.
