  1. FROM ABC

Battle of the Network Stars (9-10pm – 4.0 million and 1.0/4 in AD18-49): Doubling its Adult 18-49 lead-in at 9pm (+100%), ABC’s Battle of the Network Stars debut ranked #2 to CBS’ Big Brother premiere in the hour, beating Fox’s Love Connection by 43% (0.7/3) and tying NBC’s The Wall (1.0/4). In fact ABC’s Battle of the Network Stars ranked as Thursday’s #2 program in Adults 18-49 (tie) and beat out the other premiere on the night by 100% (CBS’ season premiere of The Zoo at 10pm = 0.5/2).

    · In Total Viewers (4.0 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.0/4), Battle of the Network Stars opener delivered ABC’s highest summertime numbers to the time slot with original programing (Memorial Day-Labor Day) since July 2016 – since 7/14/16 and 7/7/16, respectively.

The Gong Show (10-11pm – 3.5 million and 0.9/4 in AD18-49): Retaining 100% of its week-earlier debut at 10pm, ABC’s The Gong Show dominated its hour in Adults 18-49 (0.9/4), beating CBS’ premiere of The Zoo by 80% (0.5/2) and NBC’s The Night Shift by 29% (0.7/3).

  2. BOTNS did even better in the demo than I expected and got 4 million viewers to boot and kept all of the audience at the half-hour which is a good thing it means most of the people who were watching it liked what they saw as it moved pretty fast. Pretty good build out of Boy Band and helped The Gong Show keep its numbers from last week. Not sure how it will rate the rest of the summer but this is a nice start though. In my opinion if BOTNS grows like this again out of Boy Band they should consider starting the night off with BOTNS at 8pm.

On the quality side BOTNS was much better than I expected it caught my attention the whole hour as the competition was pretty close and had an upset which was nice. It left me wanting me more though which is a good thing it felt like one hour wasn’t enough as they had a highlight feel to half of the sports. Can’t wait for Sex Symbols vs. Variety next week because both of those teams are young and it might be come down to the tug-of-war like last night’s match came down to.

    • I’ll watch BOTNS on Saturday as there repeating it at 8PM. As I watched Love Connection at 9PM.

      • Glad to hear you’re going to check it out. Did you check it out that night? If not it comes on again tonight. I’ve seen it 3 times already I loved it so much.

        • Yup checked it out pretty good show. I thought Joey would be better at throwing his throws didn’t even come close to hitting the target.

          • Glad you enjoyed the show and you’re like me I actually thought Joey would be better at the throwing sports as well I was shocked he was off the mark. Nolan surprised me about how much better than Joey he was and Dave Coulier. Corbin Bleu was a straight beast I wish they had an end of the season tournament I would’ve loved to had seen Corbin go against the best players.

    • I will probably try BOTNS again but it bored me a couple of times. Didn’t the old version have an audience watching?

      • You should definitely keep up with it, I’m surprised if bored you though because it moved too fast to be boring. I loved it so much I watched it 3 times now. The original did have an audience and that’s something I want them to add the next season and the original did have an audience. I think they were trying to figure things out which is why they didn’t have an audience so I expect them to add that next year.

        • I will definitely watch it again, but it just wasn’t as much fun as I remembered it being. Maybe I was depending on too much nostalgia factor.
