Oh my gosh, NBC, please do something about the horrible shows around Will & Grace.

    • Hello Larry

I was saying the same exact thing, damn those comedies really dragged W&G down with it. Like it’s not like CBS comedies are better or anything it’s that the lead-ins are higher so Mom had the advantage. This is why NBC needs to completely reconstruct this lineup in the fall. Rebooting Mad About You is a start as they need something to challenge BBT & YS.

I think a W&G and MAY combo would be great but move it to Tuesday before This Is Us. I say let TBBT have its slot for the rest of this season and next and then fight for that Thursday timeslot.

        • Hello Larry

I’ve always liked the idea if NBC did a comedy hour to have it on Tuesdays for a little bit before they actually do a 2-hour comedy block on Thursdays. W&G and MAY would be great before TIU and it would get a boost. This should be NBC’s plan to revisit Thursdays in 2019-20. The other option is doing The Voice/Rise/Med if that works and moving TIU to Thursdays if they don’t do TNF again and have TIU lead-off at 8pm and keep the comedy hour on at 9pm with W&G and MAY leading into Chicago Fire. Either move will work for them really well.

When does the Thursday Night Football contract expire?

          • Hello Larry

The one for 2016 & 2017 has already expired they got get a new one written up for 2018.

          • Louis

            Ah, ok. Thanks!

  • Hello Larry

Could’ve been worse for The Four so FOX will take it for now but still low in terms of how it was promoted and way behind 911 from the night before. NBC inability to build around Will & Grace has finally caught up to them they were lucky that W&G was holding everything up a lot better during the fall but now reality has set in that they need to get serious about rebuilding this lineup. At this point I would get rid of all three of the comedies and move the single-cams into a different part of the week like an hour somewhere. NBC needs to bring in Mad About You this fall and Ellen’s pilot Sisters and start really slowing CBS down because CBS really doesn’t deserve its ratings outside of Mom but they have to be able to compete with them if they truly want to own the comedy scene on Thursday nights. Marlon should’ve premiered last night over Great News which makes me angry they still haven’t cancelled that low-rated garbage.

As for Chicago Fire that was an amazing growth to get NBC back into respectable territory had CF had a competent lead-in it probably would’ve been up there with PD and Med from the nights before.
