2016 NBA Finals TV Schedule on ABC

Live coverage of the 2016 NBA Finals begins with Game 1 on Thursday, June 2 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC, featuring the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Warriors-Cavaliers are a rematch of the 2015 Finals which the Warriors had won in six games.

The 2015-16 Golden State Warriors followed up on their first NBA title in 40 years with achieving the all-time best regular season record of 73-9, surpassing the 20-year mark of 72-10 by the 1996 champion Chicago Bulls. Then, after being down 1-3 in the Western Conference Finals, the Warriors defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder three straight games to advance to the NBA Finals.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, who went 10-2 in this year’s playoffs, hope for better chances in these Finals with a healthy Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love (both absent from Games 2-6 in last year’s Finals due to injury) playing alongside LeBron James who became the 8th player in NBA history (and first since 1966) to appear in six consecutive NBA Finals.

The six-game 2015 NBA Finals averaged 19.939 million viewers, according to Nielsen.

Mike Breen will provide play-by-play with analysts Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson, reporter Doris Burke and officiating expert Steve Javie.

The 2016 NBA Finals on ABC is also available on ESPN Radio, ESPN Deportes, ESPN3 and WatchABC.

The NBA Finals will use a 2-2-1-1-1 format. There’ll be an extra off day for travel at each period, stretching a possible seven games to be played in 19 days.

“NBA Countdown,” ABC’s NBA pre-game and halftime show – will be on site for 30-minute pre-game shows throughout the NBA Finals. Countdown will air at 8:30 p.m. ET preceding weeknight broadcasts and at 7:30 p.m. ET on Sundays. Sage Steele hosts “NBA Countdown” with analysts Jalen Rose and Doug Collins.
